Our Travel Page
Circa - 2000 |
| December 2000 | Vilnius - at Christmas - We were only in Vilnius for a short time over Christmas, we spent the rest of our Christmas break in the states with our families and friends. |
| November 23 - 26, 2000 | Another quick trip to London, England. We spent the Thanksgiving break seeing and doing a few things we didn't get to see and do during our last visit. |
| November 16 - 18, 2000 | We attended the ECIS teacher conference in Nice, France. A pretty good conference, but not a lot of time for sightseeing. |
| October 7 - 9, 2000 | Our first trip in Lithuania. On a three-day weekend we drove almost as far as you can while still staying in the country. We decided to go to the beach - it definitely wasn't Rio, but it was still very nice. We went to a city called Nida, on a small sliver of land in the Baltic Sea. |
| August 2000 | Some pictures of our new city. |
| August 2000 | A few photos of our new home in Vilnius |
| June 24, 2000 | Our last day in Brasilia. A quick helicopter ride around the city and one last look at EAB. |
| June 19 - 23, 2000 | Our last trip in Brasil - Part 2 - The last part of our trip was spent on the island paradise (and I'm not exaggerating) of Fernando de Noranha. A small island about 300km off the coast of Brasil. The island is an ecological reserve, with strict limits on the number of tourists allowed on the island at any one time. |
| June 17 - 19, 2000 | Our last trip in Brasil - Part 1 - Our first 2 days were spent in Natal, a small quiet beach town in the north. |
| June 4 - 6, 2000 | One of our last trips in Brasil was a trip to Iquazu Falls. You can't live in South America for three years and not see one of the largest waterfalls in the world. |
| March 4 - 12, 2000 | Over the carnival break in Brasil, we packed up and headed to Lima, Peru to meet Sue's dad and brother for a 7 day cruise on the Peruvian Amazon. Words cannot describe the trip, but we will try. |
| January 27 - February 14, 2000 |
We spent almost 3 weeks in London. Good thing Chris bought a leather coat in Buenos Aires and Chris's mom sent Sue a polar-tec jacket (thanks, Mom). The first week Sue presented at the annual E.L.M.L.E. (European League of Middle Level Education) conference. The next week was spent checking out other international schools in the London area. The last weekend was the E.C.I.S. (European Council of International Schools) job fair, where we caught up with the former art teacher from EAB. Hi, Karen (luv ya). It was a long and stressful weekend, we had quite a few interviews, and learned about a lot of different schools. At the end of the weekend we had a few offers and a lot of thinking to do. After much consideration we decided to accept positions with The American School in Vilnius, Lithuania. |
| January 2 - 26, 2000 | Remember the computer order that came in just before Christmas vacation? Well, Chris spent the rest of the vacation pretty much working 12 hours a day and 7 days a week to get everything set up before the teachers came back. Thanks to Sue for not killing me and thanks to Sue and John (the principal) for the help. |
| January 1, 2000 | No computer melt-downs at the school. Thanks to Chris. |
| December 31, 1999 | We spent New Year's Eve right here in Brasilia. We spent the afternoon at a churrasco (barbecue) on the lake with a few other teachers from school. Later on that evening, we had people over and had champagne and watched CNN. Before midnight, we headed down to the espilandia (the main government sector) for the fireworks show. |
| December 30, 1999 | Chris spent most of the day checking that everything at school was all set for Y2K. |
