Just because it's free does not mean it is not valuable.  The software is listed in no particular order.  One of the best things about using free software in your school, other than it being free, is that you can give the students the same software you are using at school.

An excellent anti-virus program that is offered free to home users.  They also offer great discounts for schools and non-profit organizations
